There are so many advantages of VoIP. They include Low cost, Low Taxes, Portability, flexibility and video – conferencing.
Low Cost: There is no need of separate voice and data networks as initiating and handling phone calls over existing data networks is possible. That means only one network is carrying the voice and data provided by only one supplier. Using broad band connection we can make call from anywhere to anywhere in the world. While regular telephone calls are billed by the time it is connected, while VoIP calls are charged per Megabytes that means the amount of Data sent over the internet. And this amount is far less than the charged amount for regular telephone that is connected for amount of time.
Low Taxes: The VoIP calls are made over the internet, and governments have not taxed heavily for VoIP phone. If we compare telephone bill, there is considerable amount is in tax for each month. Therefore selecting a VoIP over telephone can add up more savings.
Portability: In terms of connectivity and cost, VoIP calls like calls form PSTN are not distance and location dependent. We can make and receive calls form anywhere in the world where broadband connection is available and by just signing in ours VoIP account. It is as easy as e mail.
Features: VoIP comes with features like call forwarding, call waiting, voicemail, caller Id, and three way calling. Traditional telephone charges for such facilities while VoIP provides them at no extra cost. VoIP can be integrated with other services like video conversation, audio conferencing, passing information about whether, message or data file exchange simultaneously with conversation
Flexibility: VoIP has got ability to transmit multiple telephone calls over a single broadband connection which eliminates need of extra lines. VoIP facilitates secure phone calls. For secure Phone calls it uses standardized protocols. The example of such protocols is Secure Real-time Transport Protocol. Traditional telephone network has most difficulty in implementing this facility.
